Short answer

EvronDesk is a cloud restaurant POS (or EPOS, as it's usually called in the UK) that handles VAT by item and order type, service charge, tips by server, Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat orders, and works with whichever card terminal you already use. Plans start at US$29 a month per site with no contract.

VAT that matches your menu

UK VAT on food is famously fiddly: a hot pasty to take away, a cold sandwich to take away and the same sandwich eaten in can all be treated differently. EvronDesk lets you set a VAT rate on each item, a separate rate for takeaway, and prices inclusive of VAT as UK customers expect. Reports show VAT by rate for your return, and the journal export goes straight into Xero or QuickBooks, which most UK restaurants use for Making Tax Digital.

Service charge and tips

Add a discretionary service charge to every table or only groups over a certain size, and let guests add tips at payment. Since October 2024 the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act requires UK employers to pass all tips and service charges to workers fairly and keep records. EvronDesk keeps those records for you: tips and service charge by server, shift and payment type, exportable with timesheet hours for your tronc or payroll.

Pubs and bars

Open tabs, repeat rounds, happy hour, age checks and per-bartender PINs. Track pours against stock to see where the kegs and spirits go. See bar POS.

Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat

Connect the big three through Deliverect, and orders arrive on your kitchen screen with your own item names, flagged by app. Your own commission-free ordering page sits alongside them for regulars. See delivery apps.

Card terminals

Keep the terminal you have, whether it's from Dojo, SumUp, Worldpay, Barclaycard or your bank. EvronDesk doesn't force its own processing, so you can switch when a better rate comes along.

Where UK restaurants use EvronDesk

Cafés, independent restaurants, pubs, takeaways, curry houses, pizzerias, food trucks at markets and festivals, and hotel restaurants and bars. Each venue type has its own mode with sensible defaults.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best restaurant POS system in the UK?

For most independent UK restaurants and pubs, the best POS is a cloud EPOS that handles VAT correctly (including the takeaway rules), records service charge and tips for the tipping law, connects Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat, works offline and lets you keep your own card terminal. EvronDesk does all of this from US$29 a month with no contract.

Does EvronDesk handle VAT on takeaway food?

Yes. Each item has its own VAT rate and you can set a separate takeaway rate, so hot takeaway food, cold takeaway food and drinks can be taxed correctly. Check the rules for your menu with your accountant or HMRC guidance.

Can I use my Dojo, SumUp or Worldpay terminal?

Yes. EvronDesk works alongside any card terminal. Take the payment on the terminal and record it as card on the POS. You keep your existing provider and rates.

Does it help with the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act?

EvronDesk records every tip and service charge by server and payment type and exports it with timesheet hours, which gives you the records you need to share tips fairly. Your written tipping policy and allocation are still your responsibility.
